  29. Since your terminal is set to 7N1, I assume that you do not have a full
  30. 8-bit path to your host.  I would surmise that neither of your Kermits
  31. knows this.  Have you tried doing a
  32.  
  33. SET PARITY SPACE
  34.  
  35. on both ends before doing the binary transfers?  This has the effect
  36. of telling the Kermits that the high-bit cannot be used for data and
  37. that "8th-bit-quoting" must be used.  Hence, you'll get 8-bit data thru
  38. your 7-bit data path.
